Oil on linen mounted on gatorboard.

This is from a backpacking trip.  This glorious view was how I was greeted the first morning as I looked over Lake Chickenfoot in the Red Rock Creek section of the eastern Sierra.  This is oil on linen, mounted on a gatorboard panel.  Framed in a silver leaf plein air style frame.

As a continuation of my obsessive exploration of grand skies and extreme lighting conditions, this piece explores the experience of a remarkable and unique moment in time.

This little shack out on the end of an old fishing wharf caught my attention for a painting.  Oil on linen, painted plein air.

I've been pushing my work further and further towards the abstract.  I'm after deconstructing the landscape, while still capturing a luminous quality of light.  This combination require a fine balancing act, but when it works I think it creates something very special.

I painted this from Treasure Island looking back at the city on a crisp clear morning.

On special days, as the sun moves to the horizon, the breaking waves catch the light in spectacular ways.  If you've been lucky enough to stay late to 'catch the show' you know how magical this can be.

This is part of a series painted largely from memory channeling my inner memories and emotions.  Titled 'At Peace' because I was in a meditative state as I worked on this piece over many days building and refining the layers of paint that have resulted a a magical glow that emits from the canvas.

This is part of a new body of work where I've been channeling my years of plein air location painting into larger studio pieces done largely from memory. This is a larger reimagined version of a piece I painted (and sold) during the Carmel Art Festival.

This painting is done in 'high key', where no shades are very dark at all and all the colors have been shifted up towards a lighter value.  This gives the painting a wonderful sense of vibration and light.  Hence the title.

Painted along the Asilomar beach (in the Pacific Grove, Carmel, Monterey California).  I was out early painting for the Carmel Art Festival.  I caught the first souls out walking early on this brisk but absolutely the morning.
