I just finished this most recent seascape painting that has now become part of a series.
Interesting how these things develop. I hadn't intended to do a series of these, but these images in my mind's eye have kept drawing me back to the easel.
"Key to Happiness"
It's really facinating how these things can develop so organically. These were all an exploration of images and memories from a trip to Carmel Beach. They are also channeling lots of my memories from childhood growing up on the beach way out past the Hamptons on Long Island, NY.
Throughout this series I've been exploring simplification and saying more with less. What I've been after is a combination of abstract brushwork with a sense of inner illumination from a distance. It's really thrilling to see it all coming together, and it will be interesting to see what comes next ! In some ways I'm just along for the ride :-)
