I painted this piece after getting up at 4am to drive in the dark to be at this location for sunrise.
I arrived on site and discovered that I had failed to pack my easel, but it was just so beautiful that I rigged together a setup with parts I happened to have with me and I my efforts were rewarded with this beautiful.
I titled "Central Coast Signature" because this piece captures a number of the unique elements found only on the California central coast.

On comission, I took a 2 day trip down to Carmel to paint a particular scene. In the afternoons I took time to paint some different locations, including this piece that drew my attention with the glow of the rocks in shadow.

One morning on the coast I found myself socked in by fog. I started driving south, and eventually I found a hole in the weather. The day just started to open up as I was painting, revealing the most beautiful and fleating lighting effects on the cliffs.
