Beating the Heat (in Paradise)

I painting (and sold) this during the 2014 Carmel Art Festival.  It was unusually hot on the coast, so I spent my time close to water throughout the festival.  Twisting my arm, I know :-)

Sold
Leeward Cove

On a beautiful (but windy) day, I climbed down to the beach in this little leeward cove to get away from the wind.  I found this lovely spot where I spent the day painting in short sleeves even though at the top of the bluffs it was windbreaker-like weather.

Oil on linen mounted on board (gatorfoam), this is suitable for casual diplay on a mantel or for framing.  Call me if you'd like to discuss framing options.

Sold
Sunset Serenade

Vivid lively piece that I did from my imagination after many years of landscape painting. This piece has a unique combination of energy along with a calming effect.

This is an oil on linen stretched on 1.5 inch deep stretcher bars. It is designed to be hung unframed.

Reproductions of this piece can be ordered here: http://fineartamerica.com/featured/-sunset-serenade-timon-sloane.html

Sold
Wave Study I

I painted this piece in the morning along the Santa Barbara coast.  The ocean was calm and soothing on this particular morning, with a beautiful quality to the light.

This is oil on linen mounted on board (gatorboard).  It is be being made available unframed.

Sold
First Light at Point Lobos

This beautiful little painting is an oil painted on a inch-and-half think wooden block.  It is framed in a white floater frame with a black interior.

Smashing

Big breakers on the coast always makes for an exciting day of painting.  The challenge of trying to capture the constant movement and variety never gets old.

This is a plein air piece done in oil on linen mounted on a cradled mastonite panel.

Sold
Pebble Beach Cove

On comission, I took a 2 day trip down to Carmel to paint a particular scene.  In the afternoons I took time to paint some different locations, including this piece that drew my attention with the glow of the rocks in shadow.

This is oil on linen mounted on gatorboard.

Sold
Coastal Clearing

One morning on the coast I found myself socked in by fog.  I started driving south, and eventually I found a hole in the weather. The day just started to open up as I was painting, revealing the most beautiful and fleating lighting effects on the cliffs.

This is a studio piece done from studies from that outing.  It is oil on stretched linen canvas.

Sold
Ghost Tree

I painted this along 17-mile drive in Pebble Beach at a famous overlook called "Ghost Tree".

Sold
Pacific Grove Morning

Oil on board.  Signed lower right and back.
