Crescendo

This imagined landscape is a channeling of years of different painting experiences.  Of late I've been starting paintings with only vague mental images of where I want to go.  Much as authors describe how characters they've created later take over and write the story themselves, these paintings take on a life of their as they develop.

Breaking Sky II

As I continue to explore deconstructing light and the landscape, I continue to find greater and greater possibilities in the liberties I can take while still capturing that inner luminosity that is always so elusive.  This piece is a fine example of an abstract exploration can still glow with inner light.

This is oil on stretched linen.  It's on gallery wrapped 1.5 inch deep stretchers, and looks great hung unframed (as-is).  This can also be framed.

Breaking Sky I

I've been pushing my work further and further towards the abstract.  I'm after deconstructing the landscape, while still capturing a luminous quality of light.  This combination require a fine balancing act, but when it works I think it creates something very special.

SF Skyline

View of San Francisco, spanning the iconic Transamerica Pyramid building to Coit Tower.

I painted this from Treasure Island looking back at the city on a crisp clear morning.

This is oil on linen mounted on gatorboard.  I'm selling this unframed.  If you like to discuss framing options, give me a call.

Sold
Tomalas Bay Throwback

I painted this on a trip to Tomalas Bay near one of the oyster shack restaurants.  I love this area.  It feels like a trip back in time, and this this old farm out on a private peninsula looks like it probably witnessed the gold rush here in California.

This is an oil painting on gessoed gatorboard.

Last Moments

Entranced

On special days, as the sun moves to the horizon, the breaking waves catch the light in spectacular ways.  If you've been lucky enough to stay late to 'catch the show' you know how magical this can be.

This is oil on linen on a gallery wrapped canvas (1.5 inches deep).  Suitable for hanging without a frame.

Reproductions of this piece can be ordered here:  http://fineartamerica.com/featured/entranced-timon-sloane.html

At Peace

This is part of a series painted largely from memory channeling my inner memories and emotions.  Titled 'At Peace' because I was in a meditative state as I worked on this piece over many days building and refining the layers of paint that have resulted a a magical glow that emits from the canvas.

This is on a 1.5 inch deep museum wrapped canvas.

Various sized custom reproductions of this painting can be ordered here: http://fineartamerica.com/featured/at-peace-timon-sloane.html

Abstract Break

This is part of a new body of work where I've been channeling my years of plein air location painting into larger studio pieces done largely from memory. These bold works are representational while incorporating abstract-like elements. The results draw from our memories to generate a shared sense of experience.

Reproductions of this painting can be ordered here:  http://fineartamerica.com/featured/abstract-break-timon-sloane.html

Sold
Key to Happiness

This is a larger reimagined version of a piece I painted (and sold) during the Carmel Art Festival.

This painting is done in 'high key', where no shades are very dark at all and all the colors have been shifted up towards a lighter value.  This gives the painting a wonderful sense of vibration and light.  Hence the title.

Oil on linen, museum wrapped on 1.5" deep stretchers.

Different sized custom reproductions of this piece can be ordered here:  http://fineartamerica.com/featured/key-to-happiness-timon-sloane.html

Vibrating Break

With the sun going down, the surf catches backlit lighting and becomes illuminated.

Oil on canvas.  This museum wrapped piece (1.5 inches deep) is designed to be hung without a frame.

Morning Walk at Asilomar

Painted along the Asilomar beach (in the Pacific Grove, Carmel, Monterey California).  I was out early painting for the Carmel Art Festival.  I caught the first souls out walking early on this brisk but absolutely the morning.

This is listed (and priced) as shown - unframed.  Call me if you'd like to discuss framing options.
